I don’t need two hands to hold a Gold Cannes

Came across this belter this morning and I had to share. Yes yes I know you could write this script for any beer brand and my response would be; yes you could but bollocks! Why? Because they did it first and to be frank this has everything in my book; a simple idea, art directed and the cast are spot on, and the cherry on the top is the writing of the lyrics, pure class as is the production, it’s off the chart. I watched the full version, transfixed and laughed at each scenario, really lovely work and when I finished viewing I thought to myself;that should do well at Cannes this year. ‘I’m drinking this for you’ with their classic line; 'I don't need two hands to....' Apparently didn’t win anything, please correct me if I’m wrong but I just read it on the forums. If that is the case then something is seriously wrong there, this is a piece of old (maybe that is the problem) school approach but goes one step further in treating the viewer with intelligence that entices you in, rather than a quick blunt gag. One thing that I do know; if I was the creative behind this work; I wouldn’t need two hands to hold a Gold Cannes, to know this is a cracking piece of creative communication. View this gem here

Maggi Fish Sauce Launch

Some work I was involved in from a Creative Director's perspective, Nestle Maggi new launch of their fish sauce. I was pleased with this piece in the idea and art direction which translated from TV, digital into paid and earned media channels. A complete 360 degree marketing campaign. If you know anything about Vietnam you'll know the Vietnamese love their food and I mean love their food!! Communities are built around food, the sharing of stories, and families still sit around the dinner table. Which is wonderful to see and hear. We played to that human interaction and it became a good way to share our story from Maggi on how they salt and barrel their black anchovies from Phu Quoc this gives its unique premium taste. #HatTip to all the people who we're involved in making this happen, you know who you are, a great project to be involved in.

A Familiar Story Well Played

Spotted this little spot, really charming little film - that feeling of been rewarded as a kid, the butterflies you get in your tummy, they linked that to the NZ Lotto of winning it and the fact that they sponsor kids sports in NZ. I must say this spot is really well written and the cast of the kid, with the shot of his face at the end - is genius- nice work all round, well played, shame I can't say the same for my football team, West Ham, hey ho.

Lights, Action, Lights

Latest IKEA from Mother - very simple idea, beautifully shot, location looks like Thamesmead (Seems to be of a director's shooting mecca for edgy urban landscapes) the cast and the music makes the spot complete. If you're wondering who's the track by it's Patrick Watson -Lighthouse - proper old school TV spot that stands out in a dire landscape of TV spots

Beautifully Sad

Solidarités International et BDDP Unlimited veulent faire couler de l'encre from ici Barbès on Vimeo.

I came across this on my feed and as I started to watch this film I was immediately transfixed. The choice of music really set the scene and the pace of the film was spot on in telling the harrowing story of millions of children who die each year drinking dirty water. Very sad to watch as it unfolded but at the same time watching the art direction coming to life was something else. Award-winning art direction in my view but more importantly it was a very clever way to dramatise the story and draw attention in spreading the word, and hopefully for all of us to give aid to Solidarites International

This is your captain speaking - Delta 80's

This made me laugh, 80's styling for Delta Airlines, making a very watchable safety information video, loving the little touches; back combed hair and body popping along the aisles. It's these nice little touches that make this shareable, baseball hat tip to you Delta.

Skate Ballet

Love this as always when you get one thing and pair with something completely unconnected - you create something pretty special, this dude can pull some tricks. Nicely shot too, great storytelling.

L'Oreal an amazing transformation

Now here is a piece of content from L'Oreal, where they avoid the run of the mill model and plump for a less conventional model AKA Zombie Boy, Dermablend takes you behind the scenes with 'Go Beyond The Cover' this is an old school great demo for the product called Dermablend. (Dave Trott I'm sure would approve). Very watchable, and watching it unfold, dare I say; it's flawless.
